Which Torch is Right for Me?

Choose your personal style and goals and match to the most appropriate choice

My Personal Style
Torch
  • I like to make small to medium sized beads (maybe the occasional large one - up to 2 inches).
  • I make (or plan to) beads for jewelry for myself or for sale.
  • I like to practice and grow and occasionally experiment with new techniques.

A Minor and one concentrator will be fine starter torch for many people. A minor with two concentrators will be faster and hotter and permit larger work. A Minor with bottled oxygen will be hotter and faster to melt the glass.

Minor Burner
  • I like to make large focal beads - 2 inches is nothing for me.
  • I hope to make a living doing production beadmaking
  • I am always experimenting with new techniques

A Mega and one concentrator is also a fine starter torch for people who taste runs to larger, more flamboyant work. A Mega with two concentrators will be faster and hotter and permit larger work. A Mega with bottled oxygen will be hotter and faster to melt the glass. Boro can be worked slowly with two concentrators, or faster with bottled oxygen.

Mega Minor
  • I'm making a living at working glass - I need more speed.
  • I need to work borosilicate
Mid-Range
  • I need speed, a large flame, and a small flame.
  • I need a bigger torch, but I can't stand to give up my minor.
  • I'm doing work that is large, but has fine detail too.

The Mid-Range Plus is a midrange torch with a Minor mounted on top. The dual torch combination can act as two separate torches or complement each other on the same work. NEW! Have a Mega Minor mounted on your Mid-Range instead of a Minor!
